Timeline

Q1 2022 - Now

Improved web apply users to app registration conversion rate by 25%.

Starting in Q1 2024, our team focused on job seeker growth and conversion, beginning with web apply—an important part in the JobGet ecosystem.

While web apply effectively delivers applications, we aim to convert these users into native app users since they provide much higher lifetime value (LTV).

Web apply - an important part of JobGet's ecosystem

As a job seeker, you might browse various job sites looking for opportunities. For example, if you click on a job posting on Indeed, it may open a web page on JobGet.

This is common practice in HR tech—we share our job listings with partners (like Indeed and ZipRecruiter), which brings additional traffic to JobGet's ecosystem.

Web apply plays an important role in JobGet's ecosystem - delivering applies to employers, and also drive organic growth for job seekers.

Web apply plays an important role in JobGet's ecosystem - delivering applies to employers, and also drive organic growth for job seekers.

Our analysis showed that 76% of web apply users access the platform through mobile devices, while only 23% use desktop computers.

This insight led us to prioritize the mobile web experience.

How might we leverage web traffic and convert more visitors into native app users?

The original experience

The original web apply experience is effective but still bare-bone, and with outdated design system elements. By February 2024, the 6-month average conversion rate was approximately 30%—a decent conversion rate that still left room for improvement.

Use communication to re-engage drop-offs

By asking users to provide their contacts first, we can follow up with SMS & email if they dropped off. This plays a crucial role in the improvements of conversion.

Flag invalid resumes to ensure application quality

JobGet's resume parsing technology analyzes uploaded resumes and alerts job seekers if their resume appears invalid.

Within the first month launching in Q4 2024, the system has flagged 1,750 invalid resumes.

Stand out with screening questions & instant interview

The web apply experience integrates with JobGet's screening questions and instant interview features, helping job seekers stand out as ideal candidates.

Download & explore

Lastly, we prompt job seekers to download the JobGet app, where they can explore personalized job matches, read authentic reviews, and even earn cash by playing games. Most importantly, they can message employers directly.

This has proven to be our most effective download prompt to date.

The hourly design system

The hourly design system

One important factor that helped us ship faster was the Hourly design system. As a startup with a lot to catch up on in the early days, dedicating a few sprints to building a design system wasn't realistic. After pitching the importance of a design system and how it could help us work more efficiently, I had the opportunity to lead the design and engineering teams began building our own system as a side project.

Within a year (2022–2023), we built a cohesive design system across iOS, Android, and Web. The investment in the Hourly design system paid off during our 2023 rebrand and supported numerous product development initiatives.
